Technology is awesome. Every day there are new mobile phone apps that help make our lives easier, like banking, entertaining us, help us in business or communicate with others. Then there are the search engines like Google. It's so common when we are looking for directions or answers to just "Google It".
Technology is awesome. Every day there are new mobile phone apps that help make our lives easier, like banking, entertaining us, help us in business or communicate with others. Then there are the search engines like Google. It's so common when we are looking for directions or answers to just "Google It".
Even for people who are involved in their church, Google enables us to quickly find good teaching materials, kid's church crafts or recipes to fix that special dish for a fellowship.
At home, there are recipes for healthy eating, help in relationships and marriage....really we can Google the how-to's of anything! And what a blessing it is. It's like an instruction manual but it doesn't take as long to look up. And many times we can even find a video of an actual hands-on teacher showing us how to do something -- like change a tire or fix a washing machine! On Pinterest alone you can find anything from how to build a barn out of pallets to how to make your own homemade spot remover, ant killer or flea spray. I did it. It works!
Today the internet is like TV was back in the 50's when it first came out. Now no one can imagine their lives without it. Have you ever been to Walmart and all of the sudden their system goes down? You can't check out that's for sure.
Nearly everything we do is internet based. Information Technology (IT) jobs pay well -- very well. In the natural (the physical touch-and-feel world) these technological breakthroughs are so powerfully important. In Ecclesiastes Solomon says there is nothing new. They always existed. God enabled and planned them in the beginning and I believe He's now allowed mankind to discover them little by little. So first of all, recognize that all these things are designed by Him and are to be used to glorify Him.
You say, "Well, plenty of these things are NOT used for His glory." That's true, but that doesn't mean it wasn't God's intention. I mean, think about it. I've heard so many Christians that bash the internet, social apps, etc. But the fact is He does intend them to be used by us to enable us to reach more people in farther distances than even Jesus Himself as able to do in his days of walking the earth. Even Christ said we would do "greater things" than He. He told us to go and make disciples, go to the ends of the earth and share the Word -- the Good News about Him.
Through technology, He's opened doors for us to do more, go farther and reach more people than we could ever reach without it. But here's the main thing -- the Word of God -- the Bible is our source for all answers. It IS our technology and contains the answers to life's questions -- the directions, how-to's -- they are all in there.
Why would anyone NOT want to read, explore and know it then? God has made it so easy for us! Personally I like to read the Word in book form (a Bible), because I like to write notes in it next to the scriptures. But now days there are also tablets (not the stone ones lol), phone apps and the sort that you can use to read and still take notes in a notebook or notebook app. I mean you can even search keywords in everything to do with a subject. Plus God has provided to us many translations and versions that are understandable in today's English language as well as language translations like Spanish or whatever language you speak.
Here is a sure 100% positive guarantee: The Word never fails and will not go out and come back "void" or ineffective. There are answers and solutions for every problem. I've found that if I will lay down my know-it-all pride and passionately look for the answers, and of course pray He show me, God is faithful and will.
And here's the great thing. If we will "Just Bible It" by reading, searching, researching, studying, learning and trying to commit it to our memory the Word, He will speak to us, show us really marvelous things so that next time we have an issue, He'll give us wisdom and discernment on how to handle things -- without having to run grab our Bible first. We'll already know because we've stored it up for later. It will be hidden in our heart and come out at the perfect time.
OK don't let the whole search, research, study, remember thing scare you. It's nothing like going to school and cramming for an exam. It's something you will -- yes, you will -- want to do. You'll develop a hunger for more, and therefore it is NOT burdensome -- not at all
You see, the Word of God is not from this dimension. It's in the realm of the Spirit and one with the Father, the Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It's personal. Unlike internet or iphones, we don't have to pay money for it. It's a FREE GIFT from God. It's common sense.
Right now, before you forget or put it off -- decide on a time of day to spend in the Word and stick to it. You WILL see answers to life's questions. Your faith, joy and peace will increase, and you will never be the same, and never look back. You will begin to look forward to your time with Him.
Just make a commitment today to start on a new journey and "Just Bible It".
